Who I Am
I was born in Endicott, raised in Vestal, and attended Binghamton University, where in 1995, I received degrees in Computer Science and Economics.
After college, I moved to California to work in the burgeoning software industry of the San Francisco Bay area. Four years later I returned to Broome County to help my family with their business, Our Country Hearts. When I returned I lived on Binghamton's Southside for 8 years, then I moved to Endwell in 2009 to enjoy the quality of life that the Town of Union has to offer. My neighborhood is safe, clean, and friendly. I live in a classic 1950's cape cod house in the heart of Endwell. I pay town, county, school, state, and federal taxes like everyone else. And I'm just as annoyed by the state of our state as you are! I’m deeply involved in several small businesses. They are a reflection of who I am. I’m a Business man: My businesses specialize in providing personalized services & products that are superior to what our competitors offer for the same price. Each of these businesses must operate efficiently, within a budget, while simultaneously giving our customers what they want. I run efficient organizations. I’m a Community-builder: Each of my businesses is a partnership between myself, family, partners, employees, and the community. We succeed by listening to our customers and building long-term relationships with them. Our success has come from developing the best possible solution for as many people as possible, while not ignoring those who have not yet discovered us. Without community there are no businesses, no jobs, and no opportunities. I’m an Entrepreneur: Since joining my family in business, it has grown from 4 employees to 25. Meanwhile, I’ve worked with others to create several more successful businesses. All of these endeavors provide jobs to workers and bring opportunities to our community. When I see opportunity I seize it. I've become Broome County Legislator because I want to help our local government serve each member of our community better. I use my business experience to make government efficient, my community-building experience to bring people together, and my entrepreneurial spirit to seize important economic & social opportunities. I'm an experienced legislator who knows how to get things done. You'll never find me resting on my laurels or watching the clock. I'm constantly pushing for new solutions, better answers, and improved performance. Like we say in our kitchen: "If you've got time to lean, then you've got time to clean." I don't argue or squabble over small things. You didn't hire me to waist time in dispute. A little respectful discussion is good for the soul, but at some point we need to get to work. I respect everyone and try to learn from everyone I come in contact with. I believe life is too short to spend it arguing - let's find common ground and make things better for everyone. Being in government has made me a pragmatist. While I don't like many things our government(s) have gotten involved in, it’s actually more important to me that whatever government we have should be well-run, fair, and responsive to the people. While also respecting the work our government employees do. In short, I intend to be involved only as long as I can continue to add to our collective well-being. Please feel free to Contact Me with any questions or ideas you have about our local government. |
