Please read my high-level analysis of Broome County's $500 million, 823 page budget. I think it's important for any legislator to be able to understand their county's most important financial document.

Reasonable & Consistent Taxes

No one likes paying taxes. That's why keeping taxes as reasonable as possible while maintaining consistency and predictability is my primary objective. Broome County has stayed under the state-mandated tax cap every year I've been in office and I will continue to fight to keep it that way!

Several years before I came to office, the financial calamity of 2008 & 2009 led to serious budget problems for Broome County. I'm proud to say that in 2017 we finally restored the 50/50 sales tax split we once shared with the towns, cities, and villages of Broome County.

Fiscal Transparency

Broome County's annual budget is nearly $360 million. We have over 1,900 employees and 62 departments. It is imperative that the public be given clear, concise, and periodic financial updates. That's why I'm happy to have helped push for a financial transparency bill that brings that information to residents every three months.
